National Health Insurance
Moving to Denmark
Upon enrolment in the national register (Folkeregisteret) you will be asked to choose a doctor, after which you will be sent a Danish Health Insurance card.
If you wish to change your doctor later on, it can be done by: self-service on the internet or by contacting the Citizen Services Centre. You will be charged a fee of 180 DKK (2012) for changing doctor.
Cross-border workers
If you have a Danish employer and an address in another EU/EEA country, you may be issued a special national health card on the basis of a declaration by your employer and a copy of your pay slip. It is assumed that the employee is at home with their family at least every weekend.
